EMS Treat and Non-Transport Release
Effective June 1, 2021:
The State of CT Department of Public Health Office of Emergency Medical Services established a treat and non-transport rate in which allows ambulance services to bill patients and/or their insurance company when a patient is not transported to the hospital emergency department. Examples include, but are not limited to, fall victims, diabetic emergencies, and motor vehicle accidents.
Southbury Ambulance Association began billing patients for these services.
Please note the treatment and non-transport rate is not covered by Medicare. Therefore, this charge will be submitted to Medicare for denial. Patients will be responsible for the balance once processed by Medicare or other insurance carriers.
