In the first quarter of 2026, Southbury Ambulance Association responded to 915 calls. The top 2 call categories are falls and general sickness. Advanced Life Support (ALS) transport with a Paramedic was provided 22%; Basic Life Support (BLS) with an EMT crew 51 %; and no transport was provided 27%. Crews respond within 2 minutes of their notification with an on-scene time average of 11 minutes. SAA is part of the Southbury community and welcomes volunteers! If interested in taking an EMT class, Oxford Ambulance offers courses regularly. If interested in a CPR class and learning basic lifesaving skills, please contact Carolyn at 203-673-4394 to schedule a two-hour session. If interested in learning more about EMS, have a coffee with Chief Hoyt. Call 203 262 8082 ext. 101 and schedule an appointment.
